Thesis Research! Armature Pt. 2

Well, here is the "finished" sculpt of Ramus. He'll be baked tomorrow morning. I had to chop his legs off in order to fit him in the oven sooo....they're in a bunch of pieces along with his tongue at the bottom of the pictures. If I get a chance, he'll be painted too.

Thesis Research! Some Style Frames

Here are some style frames from my animatic I've been working on for thesis. Lots of stuff to model...

Dog Baking Cookies

Quick for-fun doodle. He's baking cookies.

Thesis Research! Armature Progress

Hollah. Here's an armature I started today of the main character for my thesis project. It's about a branch who finds himself trying to desperately return home. I really had no idea what I was doing at ALL this afternoon when I started this. I used floral wire, hangers, aluminum foil, a small metal rod I found, a cut piece of wood, screws, and some white Sculpey clay. Looks like doo doo at the moment since it's just roughed out.

Sketching...

Gah I can't upload a lot of stuff yet, but here's a sketch of a victorian aristocrat. I messed around in painter on this one, but I guess I need more practice. Should prob finish it.

ESPY's

Mmmk so since the beginning of May,  I've been working hard at Humble TV with Chris DeVito on VFX and animation that will appear on ESPN's 2010 ESPY Awards.

So if you want to see, it'll be on ESPN July 14th, hosted by Seth Meyers. It's just pretty exciting since it's the biggest project I've done, the internship is really fun, I get hang out with cool animators all day and watch commercials and concepts come to life, plus seeing everything we did on tv will be super rewarding. So yep, two weeks.

Frog

A made-up frog sketched out. This was really a skin texture experiment.

Knight

A concept drawing that on is currently sitting on a long waiting line of things I want to model this summer.

El Telefono

This was done yesterday for my classmate Amanda Schwartz' thesis.

Gold Digger

Here's a playblast of my final. This shindig is rendering right now. I'm gonna try to get better at animation this summer.

Final for Medical Visualization

The final product of a class project. Things we could have fixed, but oh well, we've gone our separate ways, as it is the end of Spring semester.

Face Progress

Currently working on a self-portrait project. I already animated it but, I wasn't happy with it. Since I have until Monday I'm going to change a bunch of things.

Here is a shot of the model without the shaders for now.

Demo Reel 2010

This would be my demo reel of my 2D and 3D work from mostly this school year. I'm probably going to update it with super new work as soon as I finish some of the finals I'm beginning to work on.

Thanks for Watching!

WIP

Here's a WIP on a medical simulation I'm working on with about 6 classmates. The animation will be about the shattering, surgery and healing process of a broken ankle. This is the table model I'm making at the moment. More coming.

Spent all Wednesday night on this. It was a lot of fun.

Lower Thirds for Olympics Project

Here is one animated graphic I did as a part of my Dynamic Design 2 Midterm. Done in AE and Illustrator. This crappy footage will be replaced with a better clip, alongside some greenscreen footage I'll be taking. 3D logo on the way.

The ReTop From the 7th Circle of Hell.

My first retop. This is an .obj I made of a euoplocephalus skull. It was constructed with CT scan data so the poly count was wild, and out of control.

I didn't realize skull had so many cavities so I guess I'll be retopologizing for a while here. An all-nighter may be in store...

"Neuron"

Here's a frame from my neuron synapse animation. Not very life-like, but I thought these kind of neurons looked cooler. They flash bolts of lightning. Maybe I'll upload the whole clip, maybe I won't. It's edited pretty poorly since I rushed, so it's pretty nasty at the moment (a.k.a. embarrassing)...

Mocha for AE CS4

A track of Times Square done for my Dynamic Design 2 class. We're learning some Mocha at the moment and had to do some planar tracking. I placed some of my work over existing billboards. The roto could be a lot better on this one...

Saturday, January 30, 2010

Here's the week 1 version of a brain I'm modeling for my 3D Medical Visualization class. By next week, there will be a synapse or blood flow simulation of the model. It will include a zoom into artieries that will sit along the model's surface.

Modeled in Maya and ZBrush, textured in Mudbox.

Z Brush Stuff

Here's a model I've been working on in my spare time. Did the base mesh over winter break. Did some wrinkles today in Z Brush. Not done. Can't wait to go and put some color on it after I fix the ears, retop, and finish the normal map. Original mesh is about 2,000 polys.... (Click for larger images.)

Motion Tracking in AE Week 1

We had to do some 2D tracking in After Effects for this week's homework, using footage we shot.
